This painting came from thinking about an incident years ago, I was walking on the beach with my Dad and dogs. I was ill, and realized I wasn't up to the walk, so I told Dad to go on with the dogs while I laid down in the dunes. I gave my dogs permission to go with Dad and his dog. Dogs always want to be with the person who's ahead, but the dogs refused, mine stayed by my side, arranged with one watching to the North and one to the South. I was so touched they'd choose to stay and watch over me. They did this on my solo river trips as well. Thinking of that worked into this image.
